February 15, 2022 – WPT Global Announces NFT Poker Club in Partnership with GAMAVRS
In February, we got the first announcement about the World Poker Tour partnering up with GAMAVRS with the goal of creating a Poker NFT community. The plan was to target the new breed of poker players who also have an interest in the crypto and NFT world. Additionally, the avatars could be used on the newly announced WPT Global client to gain access to special benefits.
April 11, 2022 – WPT Global Debuts at ICE London
The new WPT Global client was officially revealed during the largest iGaming conference. The new room was initially announced for players from Latin America, Canada (excluding Ontario), and several other countries. During the conference, the operator also partnered up with Wingsuit, offering guests a chance to try an exclusive VR experience, with the winner of the challenge acquiring one of the NFT Poker Club avatars.
May 10, 2022 – Poker Celebrities Join the WPT Global NFT Club
GAMAVRS announced that a number of well-known poker celebs would be joining the NFT Club, bringing the total number of famous poker players with featured WPT Global avatars to 15. The collection includes the likes of Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Maria Ho, Patrik Antonius, Brad Owen, Lynn Gilmartin, and more. GAMAVRS also announced the pre-mint of over 2,000 avatars (in addition to 250 that were minted initially) from the overall collection that will contain 9,999 NFTs.
May 12, 2022 – WPT Global & GAMAVRS Launch Vegas Battle Royale
A week-long battle gave all WPT Global NFT owners a chance to take on different challenges and collect points for a chance to win an unforgettable night with Steve Aoki, a music DJ legend and one of the room’s ambassadors, at the Omnia nightclub in Las Vegas. In addition to acquiring NFTs, the challenges included GAMAVRS’ social media channels.
May 13, 2022 – Poker Hero Challenge Goes Live, Dishing Out $20,000 in Prizes
WPT Global and GAMAVRS launched a two-week Poker Hero Challenge where players had to win a hand with 7-2 offsuit and share their accomplishment on social media. This gave them access to a draw where 10 winners received $1,000 in cash added to their WPT Global account as well as a Poker Hero NFT avatar.
June 10, 2022 – WPT Global Sending Players to The Festival in Tallinn
WPT Global partnered with “The Festival in Tallinn” to give one player a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Estonia’s capital and play in a couple of live poker tournaments. The promotion was open to all new players who used a special promo code on signup and allowed the winner to also take a friend with them to accompany them during the trip.
June 11, 2022 – A Series of Influencer Events Goes Live at WPT Global
The operator kicked off a promotion for new players, giving them a chance to register with the promotional code of one of their favorite WPT Global influencers. This gave them access to a $10,000 freeroll open only to the players who registered under a particular influencer. Winners of all individual freerolls then gathered in the final $100,000 event, which was played in the winner-takes-all format.
June 16, 2022 – Bruno Foster Wins the $100,000 Influencer Event
Brazil’s Bruno Foster triumphed in the $100,000 Influencer Event, taking home the $100K first prize as well as $25,000 he collected in bounties. The event saw a total of 34 participants – 17 influencers and 17 freeroll winners – gathered for the big finale. Qualifying players had a chance to test their skills against the likes of Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, and Brad Owen, among others.
July 1, 2022 – WPT Global Joins the Ranks of GPWA as a Platinum Sponsor
In June, WPT Global joined GPWA (Gambling Portal Webmasters Association), one of the largest affiliate networks, as one of their platinum sponsors. This gave the operator a much bigger exposure in the industry and announced their intentions to become an important part of the online poker world.
July-August 2022 – WPT Global Announces their First Online Summer Festival
Keeping up with players’ expectations, WPT Global is now running its first Summer Festival, with 50 events slated to be run across July and August. The highlight of the series will be the $1 tournament with an astounding guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000. Additionally, all Summer Festival event winners will earn a spot in the Tournament of Champions Freeroll, where the top two finishers will win a seat in the $15 million WPT World Championship taking place at Wynn Las Vegas, in December.
