Isildur1 vs. Negreanu! I can just hear the right music playing in the background… Ever since Viktor Blom joined PokerStars, hundreds of thousands of people have been waiting for this matchup to happen.
For his part, Isildur1 has taken on all comers in a series of heads-up challenges, sporting a 4-1 record against great poker players like Tony G, Isaac Haxton, and Brian Townsend. Known specifically for his major online multi-table heads-up swings at nosebleed stakes against the best poker pros in the world, the odds could definitely be said to be in Isildur1’s favor.
In the other corner we have Negreanu. This poker blogger’s personal favorite player, and probably the most famous poker pro this side of Phil Ivey, Negreanu is clearly also no slouch, be it at live or online poker tables. Always committed to being the best and overcoming new challenges as far as poker goes, Negreanu has been training for the heads-up match against some top online poker talent, albeit at lower stakes ($5-$10), in recent weeks on PokerStars.
The match itself will be spread over two Sundays, today and next week March 27th, and will start at 3 pm Eastern on each of the days. Each combatant will start out with $150,000 and play 2,500 hands against each other at 4 tables of $50-$100 no-limit Hold’em. Whatever each player is left with at the end of today’s match will be carried over to the second part of the match, next week.
Should Negreanu win the match (we’re rooting for you Daniel!) it would definitely be considered a surprise/upset, about which KidPoker would surely get excited – after all, for him it’s not about the money but rather just being (or beating) the best. The winner is the player who’s up after all 5,000 hands have been played.
