It’s Time to See What the World Poker Tour is All About

What fun is “just” announcing something with words, when you can make a fun video that does the job a lot better? 🙂

Any longtime poker fan understands that an integral part of what kicked off the Poker Boom was the emergence of the World Poker Tour. For 15 years now, WPT action has been being beamed to our TV screens all over the world. For me, the World Poker Tour has always been “limited” to just that: only being able to watch it on TV. A decade and a half of champion after champion being enshrined into poker history. Fifteen seasons of watching and listening to Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten narrate the stories of winners who have gone on to become poker legends. Now, finally, I get a chance to witness a World Poker Tour event unfold right before my eyes. Not just any WPT event, mind you, but the highly prestigious season XV ending WPT Tournament of Champions!

I’ll be the first to admit that I kind of get over-the-top excited about attending poker events, but I assure you that my energy and emotions are genuine. For a guy who usually spends his days and nights writing about poker from a home office in a tiny town in Israel, getting to publish this post from a beautiful hotel room in sunny South Florida is pretty damn awesome. Not having slept too much on the trip over, that this experience is actually real hasn’t truly set in yet… but I’m sure it will when I set foot in Hollywood’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino tomorrow morning.

What Kind of Coverage Can You Expect?

One of the beautiful things about poker is that there are a multitude of ways to cover it. Some fans like live reporting and refreshing their screens every couple of minutes to consume new hand write-ups. Other fans prefer to watch live streaming action on Twitch. Still others are content to wait for produced, edited broadcasts of final tables.

As the name of this site implies, I’ve always been a fan of the lifestyles of people in the poker world. That’s always going to be the angle I shoot for when doing live event coverage. For that reason, I’ve spent a good amount of time (with some greatly appreciated assistance from my friend, Cardplayer Lifestyle contributor James Guill) preparing to conduct some special interviews that I know you’ll all enjoy.

Moreover, as I’ve learned on other trips, part of the fun of doing media work is letting the experiences “come to you”. There are set to be quite a few special experiences on my calendar over the next week or so, and you guys can be sure you’ll either read about them in these pages or see them documented on our Facebook page or Twitter feed.

And if you like the video above, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more great video content in the pipeline, coming later this week.
