The Cardplayer Lifestyle poker blog has written about PokerStars’ Sunday Million many times in the past and for good reason: it’s THE longest-running and most popular poker tournament online! The tournament has been run almost 300 times since its inception back in 2006 and over 2 million entrants have tried their hand at winning top prize over the years. Over $440 million in prizes has been awarded to players who’ve cashed and that total is about to jump yet again, as this Sunday, the Sunday Million will be celebrating its 6th anniversary. To mark the occasion, PokerStars is increasing the tournament prize pool guarantee to a whopping $6 million, with at least $1 million going to the eventual champion!
The Sunday Million will start at its regular time of 2:30 pm Eastern and, as always, will cost $215 to enter. For those with somewhat lower online poker bankrolls, feeder satellites are available for buy-ins of as little as $1 or you can even enter using your Frequent Player Points. PokerStars will also be running a special “super-satellite” guaranteeing 1,000 seats to the Sunday Million, just before the event begins.
PokerStars Thriving in the Wake of Black Friday
Over the past year, despite the overall slump in the online poker world, PokerStars has clearly weathered the post-Black Friday storm, offering swelling Sunday Million prize pools as large as $5 million and even $10 million! This Sunday’s $6 million prize pool is sure to attract thousands of runners in the hopes of scoring the huge million-dollar first prize. PokerStars pros like Liv Boeree, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Jason Mercier, and Johnny Lodden have also confirmed that they’ll be playing, so the competition is sure to be pretty stiff. If you think you can give the sharks a run for their money, then make sure you make you get yourself a seat at the virtual felt this Sunday!
