Poker Player to Enter the $1 Million Buy-In WSOP Event for Just One Cent!?

A few months ago, Cardplayer Lifestyle reported that the World Series of Poker had announced a $1 million buy-in event. Though strictly speaking it’s an open event in which anyone can participate, with such a steep price tag (even poker’s top pros like Daniel Negreanu have tweeted that they’re considering getting at least partially staked), it stands to reason that this event will remain exclusive those with multimillion-dollar net worth. Except for a guy who may be getting a seat for one cent…

Indeed, three satellite seats are being awarded to the event courtesy of corporate sponsors, but it appears as though one potential player is looking a creative way to try and get seated in the exclusive bracelet event: auction off the opportunity to sponsor him via eBay. The unnamed gentleman from Chicago pictured below, who goes by the Twitter handle TREJOpoker, is a self-professed “regular guy” looking for a chance to achieve his dream – to play in this summer’s special $1 million buy-in WSOP event, which will be capped at 48 entrants.

Got $1 million to spare?

Talk about creativity! The aspiring poker player’s auction was won for a bid of 1 cent, but no official details have emerged as to whether the winning bidder will actually come through and pay the million-dollar buy in. Interestingly, 2 others who first won the auction ended up cancelling their winning bids due to “not needing the item” and “misunderstanding the terms of the auction” respectively. What’s more, on his Twitter account, he still seems to be actively campaigning for sponsors.

Well, while this poker blog is not in a position to sponsor a million-dollar buy-in, we can however publicize this creative attempt of a random unknown poker player out there to try and live out his dream.

Who knows? Perhaps one of our readers would be interested? In any event, kudos on your creativity and best of luck to you!
