2024 WPT Prime Aix En Provence Preview

The 2024 WPT Prime Aix En Provence festival will be played from January 26 to February 5 at the Pasino Grand, as the latest season of the World Poker Tour’s global mid-major circuit kicks off. The 2023 WPT Prime season had 14 festivals in 12 different countries and was very successful, with more than 22K entries across all its tournaments and distributing $22.7M in prizes. For 2024, the circuit’s first half dozen stops have already been announced, and with live tournament poker booming, we’re once again expecting record-breaking numbers.

2024 WPT Prime Aix En Provence Festival Schedule

The festival will have 29 events (including satellites) with buy-ins ranging from €200 to €2,000 for the High Roller. There will also be 10 €250 satellites played for WPT Prime Championship seats and two €350 satellites where players can win seats into the High Roller event.

WPT Prime Aix En Provence 2024

The WPT Prime Aix En Provence Championship

The most high-profile event of the festival will begin on February 1 with four starting flights, and will play out as follows:

  • Day 1A: Thursday, February 1 at 12 PM (Play till field is in the money)
  • Day 1B: Friday, February 2 at 12 PM (Play till field is in the money)
  • Day 1C: Saturday, February 3 at 12 PM (Play till field is in the money)
  • Day 1D Turbo: Saturday, February 3 at 8 PM (Play till field is in the money)
  • Day 2: Sunday, February 4 at 1 PM (Play till the Final Table has been reached)
  • Day 3: Monday, February 5 at 1 PM (Final Table)

Tournament structure:

  • Buy-In: €1,100
  • Re-entry: One re-entry allowed per day.
  • Starting stack: 50,000
  • Blind Levels: 40 minutes on Day 1 and 60 minutes on Days 2 and 3.
  • Ante Format: Big Blind Ante.
  • Late Registration: Registration closes at the start of Level 9.
  • Players per table: Play will be 8-handed from start.
  • Payouts: 12.5% of field

About Aix En Provence

The city of Aix En Provence is located in the south of France and is the capital of the historic region of Provence. Among the wide variety of places to visit in this tourist-friendly city are the Granet museum, the lavender region in the Sault, the Mazarin District, the St. Sauveur cathedral, the Luberon village, the Roman ruins, the Senanque Abbey and the favorite places of famed painter Vincent Van Gogh.

2023 Featured Two Aix En Provence Stops

Last year, two WPT Prime festivals were held in Aix En Provence. The first was in January and its Main Event had 1,071 entries, distributing $1.1M in prizes and becoming the largest WPT tournament in France. The champion was Frenchman Fabrice Bigot, who won a grand prize of $193K.

In August, the Pasino Grand hosted the second visit of the year for the WPT Prime circuit and the Main Event featured 457 $1K entries and a prize pool of $481K. France’s Samy Boujmala was the champion, adding $91K to his bankroll.

The successful 2023 WPT Prime season

As mentioned at the outset of this article, last year’s WPT Prime circuit was stellar across the board, with several records being broken at stops around the world:

  • WPT Prime Aix En Provence January: largest WPT event in France with 1,071 entries.
  • WPT Prime Liechtenstein: The largest WPT event in Europe with 1,644 entries.
  • WPT Prime Liechtenstein: Largest prize pool for a Prime event outside of the United States at $1.8M.
  • WPT Prime Championship: Largest tournament in WPT history with 10,512 entries.
  • WPT Prime Championship: Largest prize pool in WPT Prime history at $10.1M.
  • WPT Prime Championship: Largest WPT event with $1K buy-in.

In addition to Aix En Provence, 2024 WPT Prime stops include: Amsterdam (from March 15 to 23), Voyage (from April 1 to 4), Slovakia (from to April 15), Gold Coast (from April 10 to 23) and San Remo (from May 31 to June 10). Additional stops for the second half of the year will be announced at a later date.
