The 2023 season of the World Poker Tour debuted successfully in the city of Paris, where the WPT Prime Main Event had 1,071 entries. Now the Prime circuit will travel to Australia, where the WPT Prime Gold Coast will be played from February 26th to March 6th. The stop’s Main Event will be held from March 2-6.
The WPT Prime Australia Festival
The festival will feature 14 events with entries ranging from $330 AUD to the $10,000 AUD Super High Roller. The WPT Prime Main Event will have a $2,000 AUD buy-in and three starting rounds where players will attempt to advance to Day 2. There will also be Pot Limit Omaha and Mystery Bounty tournaments on the schedule.

- Day 1B: March 3 at 2:30 PM (play till field is ITM)
- Day 1C: March 4 at 11:30 AM (play till field is ITM)

WPT Prime Main Event Structure
- Buy-In: $2,000 AUD
- Starting stack: 30,000 chips (150 big blinds)
- Re-entry: Unlimited during late registration
- Blind levels: 40 minutes during Day 1 and then 60 minutes
- First level: 100/200 with 200 Big Blind Ante
- Ante Format: Big Blind Ante
- Late registration: Closes at the start of Level 7
- Action Clock: During Day 2 and final table
- Payouts: 12.5%
- Players per table: Play will start 9-handed and will move to 8-handed as son as possible

Gold Coast is an Australian coastal city and region approximately 70 kilometers south of Brisbane in the state of Queensland. It is the sixth-largest city in Australia and one of its most visited tourist destinations for its beaches and subtropical climate.
What can you do in Gold Coast? These are its main attractions: go by boat to Moreton Island, kayaking and snorkel on Wave Break Island, learn to surf in Surfers Paradise and visit Movie World, Sea World and Wet N’ Wild parks.

WPT in Australia
This will be the sixth time the World Poker Tour has visited Australia. The first time was in 2019 with the WPTDeepstacks and it returned after the pandemic in 2021 with a leg of the WPTDeepstack and another leg of the WPT Prime.
During 2022, two events were played on Australian soil. First up was the WPT Prime Gold Coast, which had 896 entries for $1,500 AUD and had a prize pool of $1.1M AUD. Yang Lei was the victor, winning $201,755 AUD.
During September, the WPT Australia was played, which had 71 entries of $5,400 AUD and distributed $3.5M AUD in prize money. The champion was local David Tang, who won the biggest prize of his career: $647K AUD.
