The World Poker Tour Triple: WPT Set to Stage Events on Three Continents Next Month

The World Poker Tour will deliver three times the action in the month of March and will live up to its billing with three separate events to be played on three different continents: Europe, North America and Asia. The action will begin in the city of Amsterdam, staging of the WPT Prime circuit, then continue in California with WPT Thunder Valley and finally hit the island of Jeju, which will host a Main Tour stop with WPT Korea.

Here are the details of the three festivals:

WPT Prime Amsterdam

  • Festival: March 15-23
  • Venue: Holland Casino Amsterdam
  • WPT Prime Championship: March 17-22

The festival will have 10 events and in addition to the Prime Championship, a High Roller, an Opener and a Progressive Bounty stand out. Qualifying satellites for the Prime Championship and the High Roller will also be played. WPT Prime Championship schedule:

  • Day 1A: Sunday, March 17 at 12:30 PM
  • Day 1B: Tuesday, March 19 at 12:30 PM
  • Day 1C: Wednesday, March 20 at 12:30 PM
  • Day 1D Turbo: Wednesday, March 20 at 7 PM
  • Day 2: Thursday, March 21 at 12:30 PM
  • Day 3: Friday, March 22 at 2 PM

WPT Prime Amsterdam 2024

WPT Prime Amsterdam Championship structure:

  • Buy-In: €1,100
  • Re-entry: Unlimited
  • Starting Stack: 40K
  • Blind Levels: 40 minutes during Day 1 and 60 minutes during Day 2
  • Late Registration: 9 levels

Last year this tournament was very successful and had 1,000 entries, with a prize pool of $1M and 125 players making the money. The winner was Germany’s Philip Hollederer, who turned the $1K buy-in into a $174K grand prize, which was his best live result ever.

WPT Rolling Thunder

  • Festival: March 7-26
  • Venue: Thunder Valley Casino Resort
  • WPT Championship: March 23-26

A total of 22 events will be played at the festival and many of them will have significant guaranteed prize pools, such as Event #10 Deepstack Thunder Valley with $1M guaranteed and Event #13 NorCal Jacked Stack with $250K guaranteed. WPT Rolling Thunder Championship schedule:

  • Day 1: Saturday, March 23 at 11 AM
  • Day 2: Sunday, March 24 at 11 AM
  • Day 3: Monday, March 25 at 11 AM
  • Day 4: Tuesday, March 26 at 11 AM (final table with live streaming)

WPT Rolling Thunder 2024

WPT Rolling Thunder Championship structure:

  • Buy-In: $3,500
  • Re-entry: Unlimited
  • Starting stack: 50K
  • Blind Levels: 60 minutes
  • Late Registration: Start of Level 11 at Day 2
  • Payouts: 12,5%

The 2023 edition of this event had 590 registrants and distributed $1.8M in prizes among the top 74 finishers. The champion was Scott Eskenazi, who earned his best live prize: $361K. We spoke with Scott after his victory, and you can read the interview in this article.

WPT Korea

  • Festival: March 25 – April 3
  • Venue: Jeju Shinhwa World
  • WPT Championship: March 28 – April 2

The festival will feature 22 events with different modalities and in addition to the Main Event, a High Roller, a Mini Main Event, an Opener and Mystery Bounty will stand out. Milestone satellites will also be played for the Main Event and the High Roller. You can see all the events in the Player’s Guide.

WPT Korea schedule:

  • Day 1A: Thursday, March 28 at 12 PM (10 levels are played)
  • Day 1B: Friday, March 29 at 12 PM (10 levels are played)
  • Day 1C: Saturday, March 30 at 12 PM (10 levels are played)
  • Day 2: Sunday, March 31 at 12 PM (10 levels are played)
  • Day 3: Monday, April 1st at 12 PM
  • Day 4: Tuesday, April 2nd at 12 PM

WPT Korea 2024

WPT Korea structure:

  • Buy-In: KRW 2,800,000 ($2,100)
  • Re-entry: Unlimited
  • Starting Stack: 50K
  • Blind Levels: 60 minutes
  • Late Registration: 8 levels
  • Guaranteed Prize Pool: KRW 2,000,000,000 ($1,5M)

Last year’s edition had 758 entries and $1.7M in prizes were distributed among the top 95 players. The champion was Tao Yin from China, who earned the biggest prize of his career: $233K. Standing out among the side events was Steve O’Dwyer’s victory in the WPT Alpha 8 for $1M.

So, March stands out as one where the WPT will be spreading events simultaneously all over the world. They’ll be crowning new champions across three different continents. And to top it all off, on the last day of the month, players will set sail on the WPT Voyage. Ahoy!
