Daniel Negreanu Matching Up To $50,000 in Charity Poker Donations for St. Jude’s

Here at Cardplayer Lifestyle we’re big proponents of all things that have to do with charity poker. For way too long poker has gotten a bad rap, stereotyped as a game in which the participants serve nobody but themselves, and we continue to be in favor of players bucking that trend via charity poker donations to help those less fortunate. With that in mind, Cardplayer Lifestyle would like to applaud the efforts of poker’s finest ambassador, Daniel Negreanu, to try and raise $100,000 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St. Jude's Children's Hospital

Zooming Towards the $100,000 Goal

Negreanu has pledged to match all monies donated up to $50,000 until the end of this week. In just over 12 short hours since posting his special message, Negreanu’s St. Jude fundraising page has already helped to raise over $9,000 towards his stated goal.

In addition to the incentive of having every dollar you donate to this worthy cause doubled via Negreanu’s matched donation, the 4-time WSOP bracelet winner is also running a special promotion to reward the biggest donors to the cause. Four lucky donors who contribute $2,500 or more will also be randomly selected by Daniel to join him for dinner in Las Vegas on March 29th, followed by a private poker lesson and fun evening at his newly-renovated home.

Fundraising GoalA Model Poker Citizen Who Sets a Personal Example

Much is made of the achievements top poker pros garner at the felt while too little attention is paid to their actions away from the poker tables. Just like professional athletes step up to do charity work, set up foundations, and help those in need, Negreanu is lending his star power to an excellent cause in what is clearly not an attention grab but rather a noble effort simply to do good in the world.

Poker players are notoriously self-centered, with the goal of bettering their bankrolls. We would all do well, grinders and recreational poker players alike, to follow the example set by Daniel Negreanu to dedicate time, effort, and money to those in need.

So whether you’d like to set aside some of your most recent session’s winnings, or run a charity poker tournament to help out, Cardplayer Lifestyle encourages you to do your part.

We’ve made our donation, now it’s your turn.
