The 2024 WPT Global Summer festival is officially in the books. The series ran from July 28 through August 18, and over 15,850 players logged on to WPT Global to take their shot at over $8 million in guarantees.

The series concluded on Sunday with champions crowned in the WPT Prime, WPT500, and the $3,500 WPT Championship events. Amateur and pro players alike battled for massive prizes and bragging rights. Let’s look at some of the highlights from the final day of the WPT Global Summer Festival.

Sucra71, pas1161br, and 两弹一星 Among Sunday Winners

Sunday was championship day for the WPT Global Summer Festival, as the finals for the WPT 500, WPT Prime, and $3,500 WPT Championship all played out. The WPT500 played down to a winner, with 两弹一星 coming out on top of a field of 898 entries. They survived a spirited final table and earned the winner’s prize of $83,109.

The WPT Prime event crowned its champion on Sunday as well. “Sucra71” survived a field of 615 entries and a tough final table to win the $145,132 top prize and a seat into the $10,400 WPT World Championship.

The $3,500 WPT Championship just slightly missed its guarantee of $1 million, as only 283 entries participated. After two grueling days, the final table was reached and included a pair of WPT Ambassadors (more on that below). However, it was “pas116br” that won the event, earning $206,300 and a $10,400 WPT World Championship seat.

WPT Global Summer Festival: Ambassadors Run Deep

WPT Global Ambassadors were out in force on the final day of the WPT Global Summer Festival, with four of them making deep runs and three making final tables. Brad ‘BradOwen1’ Owen ran deep in the $3,500 WPT Championship, finishing 31st and earning $7,300.

Xuan ‘XXLiu’ Liu pulled in a pair of final tables on the final day. She finished 3rd in the $330 Grand Slam, earning $6,727. She also made the final table in the $530 Last Chance Turbo, finishing in 8th for $1,480.

A pair of ambassadors made the final table of the $3,500 WPT Championship. Jon ‘apestyles’ Van Fleet finished 5th in the event, earning $59,200. Patrick ‘Egption’ Tardif made it all the way to heads-up play in the event but fell just short. He earned $130,640 for his runner-up finish.

While much of the attention was on the main event winners and WPT Global Ambassadors, a few other players quietly made waves in some events during the WPT Global Summer Festival. Here are a few of the notable players from Sunday:

  • AbsoluteFish will have to change their name after taking down the $330 Grand Slam, earning $15,776 plus $8,477 in bounties.
  • HansBonSjans won $16,598 by taking down the $530 Sunday Egption.
  • yushokg received 174x on their investment by winning the $110 Crazy Sunday PKO, earning $17,427.
  • LocoGrizzly just missed heads-up play in the WPT Championship and earned $97,360 for his third place finish.

WPT Global Fall Festival Announced For September

Overall, the 2024 WPT Global Summer Festival proved quite popular. There were the occasional overlays, but in true WPT tradition, the guarantees were honored, much to the players’ delight. In a press release, the company said it was “ecstatic with the engagement and look forward to going even bigger and better when it comes to our fall festival.”

WPT Global has already announced dates for its Fall Festival, which will run from September 8 through 30th. It will again feature the WPT Prime, WPT500, and WPT Championship events. Additional details will be released from WPT Global in the near future.
