The WSOP Circuit has just returned to Canada for the first time in two years, with the inaugural WSOP-C Playground series kicking off in Quebec earlier this week. Players have descended on the Playground Poker Club with hopes of getting a piece of the $4 million guaranteed prize pool, spread over seven events.
With WSOP-C action heating up in the Great White North, it’s a good time to remember that there are a number of great casinos in Canada at which you can enjoy the thrilling game of poker. Starting with the best of them all, let’s take a look at five of them.
PLAYGROUND POKER CLUB
The Playground Poker Club is known as ‘Canada’s Premier Poker Destination,’ and is the go-to poker venue for major events in Canada.
The pros flock to the Playground numerous times per year for events like the WSOP-C Playground 2018 (which, as mentioned, is currently running), the WPT Montreal, and the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS North America, which boasted a $10 million guaranteed prize pool and $1.4 million first prize for the $5,300 Main Event this past spring.
The Playground also hosts its own poker festivals, like the Playground Power Weekend series, throughout the year. Located just outside of Montreal in the Kahnawake territory, the Playground attracts serious poker players year round, with its 70+ table setup, daily tournaments and full spread of game variants available for cash game players. Notably, this establishment is actually the rare “pure” poker room, with no casino games being spread.
If you’re watching a major poker event and it’s in Canada, it’s almost certainly going down at the Playground.
CASINO de MONTREAL
The size of the bad beat jackpot can tell you a lot about the action in a poker room. Casino de Montreal took the honors of awarding the biggest bad beat jackpot ever recorded in North America earlier this year, with a massive $1,669,442 being distributed in a hand that saw quad tens getting topped by a queen-high straight flush on the turn.

Casino de Montreal is just a 30-minute drive from the Playground Poker Club and is a great place to find juicy live games that might not be quite as shark-infested. The poker room has 28 tables and runs 24/7, with daily tournaments and NLHE cash games that sometimes run up to limits of $25/50.
CLUB REGENT CASINO
Located in Winnipeg, the Club Regent Casino hosts the PlayNow.com Poker Championship series twice a year, with events in the spring and fall. Attendance for the 2018 spring PNPC hit an all-time high for the series, and it’s expected that the fall PNPC, set to run from September 5-9, will reach even bigger heights in both attendance and prize money.

With a new, modern poker room and a 16-table setup, Club Regent Casino is home to one of the best poker venues in Manitoba. The establishment runs NLHE tournaments twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, which often draw fields of 100+ players.
CASH CASINO CALGARY
Calgary, Alberta is a long way from Vegas, but the Cash Casino Calgary is home to the cleverly-named Nevada Poker Room, which hosts the annual Calgary Classic tournament series.

The Calgary Classic schedule includes 10 events over a two-week span each summer, culminating in a $560 deep stack Main Event that drew 287 players for 2018. The Nevada Poker Room has 13 tables, and a daily poker league, along with NLHE and Dealer’s Choice cash game options. Tournament players have it good at the Cash Casino, with 3-4 events running daily seven days a week.
CAESARS WINDSOR
The luxurious Caesars Windsor in Ontario offers 14 tables in their poker room, NLHE, PLO and seven-card stud cash games spread across various limits, and one of the nicest hotels in the province if you’re looking to stay for a few days. As an added bonus for American players, it’s located just outside Detroit on the American-Canadian border.

The 24/7 poker room also hosts a variety of daily tournaments, as well as special events like the Ladies Showcase, Progressive Knockout Bounty, and Tag Team Hold’em tournaments. Caesars Windsor has also offered WSOP satellite tournaments in past years.
