We all get a chuckle from hearing funny poker stories. At the 2020 888poker LIVE festival in Madrid, we asked a handful of the company’s ambassadors to share their funniest poker stories with us.
In this video, we hear from Vivian Saliba, Kara Scott, Martin Jacobson, Ana Marquez, and David Tuchman.

Poker can be a funny game sometimes, you know? Every one of us has memorable, interesting experiences at the poker table, but also some funny ones. Here at the 888poker LIVE event in Madrid, I bumped into a bunch of well-known poker players and asked them, what was the funniest thing that ever happened to you at a poker table?
Vivian Saliba
So at a casino where I used to play, something really crazy happened. So, two guys were having an argument, and one of them had a wig. So, one of the guys takes off the wig that the other guy had on, and throws it on the floor and it lands on the waiter’s foot, and she kicks the wig away, because she thought it was some animal. I don’t know what she thought. The guy was like bald, and the wig was somewhere else, and everything was chaos. It was hilarious.
Kara Scott
So I was at a home game recently, and I do swear sometimes, I have a bit of a potty mouth. And some guy thought it would be a good idea to tell me that “ladies really should watch their language” because it’s just not attractive when we swear. And I’m sure, as you can imagine, I tore a strip off of him. Can I swear? On this? [Yes, you can.] I called him a motherfucker. I told him, “You need to get the fuck away from me with that kind of patriarchal bullshit!” and he was so shocked by my response, I think he felt like he was genuinely trying to be helpful, like “Oh, sweetheart, that’s just… we don’t think it’s attractive when women swear,” and I was like “Uh, yeah. Not here to be attractive to you, motherfucker.”
Martin Jacobson
It was probably last summer at the WSOP, where some guy was in the tank and his opponent took off his shoe and threw it at him. And right after, at that point he pulled down his pants as well, and so that’s probably the funniest thing, the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.

Ana Marquez
It was in a Ladies event. This girl was really mad that a guy was playing the Ladies’ event, and at some point, she just stood up, started screaming and slapped him in the face. Then she went and sat down. And I thought it was a little aggro, but a lot of girls started clapping, too, so it was a really weird situation, to be honest. But it was pretty funny.

David Tuchman
So, I’m playing five-handed with a couple of people, and there’s one gentleman who’s quite abusive to everybody, and a little bit possibly inebriated. And I stack him. For those of you who know me, you might know that I have a quirky ability to get under somebody’s skin. I don’t know, it’s weird, right? I’m very lovable… ask Norman Chad.
So the weird thing is, you know, I make a couple of comments, see if I can get the guy on tilt and everything, and I’m like, “Oh, you’re not leaving, are you? Come on, ah.” He gets all mad and everything. So sure enough, I get him to buy in again. The chips don’t get back to the table, and I felt him again.
At that point, the guy gets so mad, he flips over his chair and he goes to start a fight with me. Now, I’m not a big guy, but I can defend myself. I play ice hockey. But this is also my home casino. I don’t want to make a fuss. But I’ve got to defend myself, right? So this guy gets up and he gets right in my face, and I’m like alright, is he going to punch me?, or what’s he going to do. So I do the whole hockey thing. And I pull his shirt over his head until the security guards come in there. And he gets escorted out, I actually get asked to leave as well.
So, I convinced the guy to stick around, got an extra buy-in, and got to do the whole hockey jersey fight, which was awesome!
