Tropicana Las Vegas
Update September 11, 2012: Tropicana has announced that it’s closing it’s poker room, effective today. Having played at the room ourselves, we feel it’s a true loss for players, as the rakeback deal was the best offer in Las Vegas.
Ed note: In light of the poker room closure at the Tropicana, the information below is obviously “dated”. Nonetheless, we will continue to offer our visitors the opportunity to book a hotel stay there.
The Tropicana Las Vegas has completely reinvented itself as an all-new exciting casino resort at which to stay and play; a perfect poker vacation destination! Located at one of the most highly-trafficked intersections of the Las Vegas Strip, this 1,658-room hotel has been very successful at attracting guests with a host of amenities as well as a wide variety of dining and entertainment options. The multimillion dollar renovations and rebranding have also extended into the all-new poker room, named after 2006 World Series of Poker Champion Jamie Gold
Poker Room Information
The Cardplayer Lifestyle poker blog wrote a feature piece upon the grand opening of the Tropicana Poker Room. Though small in size, with just 6 cash game tables, this poker room is action-packed and benefits from the buzz of frequently showcasing Jamie Gold. It doesn’t take a huge bankroll or major status as a poker pro to secure a seat at a table playing with Gold either. For as little as a $100 buy-in you can tell your home game buddies back home that you played with a WSOP champion!
Unique to this poker room among others in Las Vegas, you can straddle the blinds from any position and, in an all-in encounter with cards to come, players are allowed to “run it twice”. The room also spreads non-Hold’em games on Monday and Tuesday nights.
The Tropicana Las Vegas poker room hosts 4 daily Texas Hold’em tournaments in a separate 30-table tournament room, with $40 buy-ins at 10 am and 2 pm as well as $80 buy-ins at 8 pm and 11 pm.
Current Poker Room Promotions
We at Cardplayer Lifestyle pride ourselves in knowing a lot about all poker rooms the world over. Yet, we had never heard of a poker room that actually pays players in cash to come and play, until coming across the rakeback promotion at Tropicana Las Vegas.
To qualify for rakeback, you just have to play for a minimum of 5 straight hours, after which you can cash out and receive $35 just for having played! The rakeback increases from $7 an hour all the way up to $12 per hour for players who have sessions lasting 12 hours or more. Think about that: if you sit and play poker for half a day and break even, you’ll still make almost $150 just for engaging in your favorite pastime! Incredible!
