Lake Tahoe Poker Vacations

Thought of by many as a winter wonderland, Lake Tahoe is also an excellent “off-the-beaten-track” place to take a poker vacation. Most vacationers who head up to this area of the country do so for outdoor sports opportunities, especially in the colder months of the year. The people you’re most likely to see while there include an eclectic mix of young snowboarders and skiers, families who enjoy sledding and tobogganing, and retirees who enjoy watching winter magic from inside heated lounges with cups of hot tea and warm cocoa. In the summer, the lake’s main draws include excellent water sports opportunities and fishing.

But poker players like you know that in Lake Tahoe you don’t have to visit the lake itself to catch fish, as they’re biting all-year-round at the felt!

Your Lake Tahoe Poker Vacation

If Lake Tahoe will be your next poker vacation destination, then we at Cardplayer Lifestyle are happy to recommend both Harrah’s and Harvey’s. These hotels have a combined 1,250+ rooms available along with over half a dozen restaurants and 150,000+ square feet of gaming space. A full service health spa and plenty of top-name entertainers visit these resort casinos throughout the year, so there’s plenty to keep you occupied when you’re not playing poker.

Though Harvey’s Lake Tahoe and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe are in fact two separate properties, they share a joint poker room, located on the physical premises of the Harvey’s complex. The two hotels are located across right the street from one another and there’s also a 50-foot-long underground walkway that connects them, in case it’s too cold outside to walk from one to the other.

Poker Room Information

Harvey’s poker room operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and features 17 tables of cash game and tournament action. Their Texas Hold’em tournament schedule and buy-ins are as follows:

  • Daily – 10 am – $40
  • Monday & Wednesday – 6 pm – $50
  • Tuesday & Thursday – 6 pm – $80
  • Friday – 6 pm – $100
  • Sunday – 2 pm – $60

The action heats up at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe in November, as the resort plays host to a World Series of Poker Circuit event. The tournament series usually lasts for almost 2 weeks and features plenty of Hold’em and non-Hold’em action.

Regular promotions throughout the calendar year at this poker room include High Hand jackpots (4-of-a-kind or higher) and Bad Beat progressive jackpots, each of which pay out handsome sums to the players lucky enough to be dealt premium poker hands or simply fortunate enough to be sitting at the right table at the right time. We advise you to speak to the poker room manager directly for further details.
