Mixed Game Festival XII to Feature Live Tournament Reporting for the First Time Ever

For over four years now, the Mixed Game Festival has been all about bringing fans of the “non-Hold’em” poker variants together for days of community, learning, and great poker. Each festival seems to add something new, and as we get set to kick off Mixed Game Festival XII at Resorts World Las Vegas in just a couple days, we’re excited to roll out a brand new first: live tournament reporting.

That’s right — for the first time in the festival’s history, one of our tournaments will receive full on-the-felt coverage. The spotlight event will be the $300 “Miami John” Commemorative Omaha 8/Stud 8 (O/E) tournament, kicking off at 12pm on Monday, November 17. It’s important for us to honor the legacy of the late “Miami” John Cernuto, one of the greatest tournament grinders the poker world has ever known, who won this event at our fourth Mixed Game Festival about 2.5 years ago. This year, we’re excited to take that tribute a step further by documenting the tournament’s action in real time.

All the coverage will be posted at mgf.pokerreporting.com, a new hub created specifically to showcase this initiative. Players, fans, and friends of the festival will be able to follow along throughout the day — and afterward — with a variety of content that goes well beyond standard text updates.

Visitors to the site can expect:

  • Hand histories with video: Short clips capturing key pots, interesting decisions, and player dynamics.
  • Traditional written hand histories: The classic, in-depth style poker fans know and love.
  • Final table and winner photos: A strong visual record of the players who go deep.
  • A full gallery of player images: Because half the joy of these events is seeing familiar faces — and new ones — around the tables.
  • Prize pool and payout information: All the official details once registration closes.
  • A complete wrap-up post: The narrative summary tying together the story of the tournament from start to finish.

The entire project is being spearheaded by Chris “Fox” Wallace, winner of the 2014 WSOP $10,000 HORSE Championship. Chris is a longtime friend and supporter of the Mixed Game Festival, having been our official photographer way back during our inaugural event. Intimately familiar with the inner festival workings, having splashed around with us at the felt on multiple occasions, Chris is the co-owner of Pokerreporting.com and perfect person to take the reins for this first experiment in live reporting during a Mixed Game Festival tournament.

Mixed Game Festival XII, running November 16–20 at Resorts World, already has a packed schedule filled with poker excitement, approachable stakes, numerous giveaways, and daily opportunities for mixed-game enthusiasts to learn, play, and connect. Adding live reporting into the mix feels like a natural evolution. It gives players something extra to enjoy and allows friends and family back home to sweat the action. Plus, of course, it helps highlight an honoree that meant a great deal to the mixed-game community.

Whether you plan to play the event, follow along online, or just want to check out what a grassroots mixed-game festival looks like when it grows a little bigger each year, keep your eyes on mgf.pokerreporting.com on November 17. We’re excited to take this step forward — and we hope fans of the festival will enjoy watching the action unfold as much as we’ll enjoy bringing it to you.
