Poker Tickets: A Website Where Players Can Buy In to Live Poker Tournaments

Don’t you wish there was some way to buy in to your favorite daily or weekly tournament instead of waiting in line, in person, at the poker room? Have you ever walked in to a poker room ready to play in a tournament only to find that it’s already full? Well, this poker blogger just discovered a cool website that allows you to lock up a seat in a live poker tournament, right from the comfort of your living room: www.pokertickets.com.

PokerTickets Website

Though the site’s been around for over a year, I stumbled upon it when researching Cardplayer Lifestyle’s recent blog post about the longest continuous poker tournament ever held. Indeed, the premise of PokerTickets is pretty simple: buy in online to enter land-based poker tournaments. The site currently offers players the ability to buy in to poker tournaments at about a dozen casinos in the U.S. and Canada, including one of my favorites: Atlantic City’s Taj Mahal poker room. In exchange for not having to go to the casino and wait in line to buy in, PokerTickets charges a convenience fee of 3–6%, depending on the buy-in price.

Any poker player of legal age is welcome to simply select the casino and poker tournament, enter their credit card details, and print their “Poker Ticket”, which will include the table and seat assignment. Once paid for, your seat is guaranteed, and you can present your PokerTicket, along with valid ID at the poker room when the tournament is set to begin.

The only thing I’m surprised about is that the online poker buy-in service is currently only available in just a few land-based poker rooms. I’d bet, however, that with such a simple, great idea you’re likely to find your local poker room partnering up with PokerTickets in the near future.
