WSOP introduces voting for the TOC

Each time the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions has been held, it’s been an amazing event.Originated by Mike Sexton, the WSOP TOC always sees poker’s greatest players battle it out for the prestigious title. Aside for the chance to increase visibility and their bankrolls, one of the nice benefits for whoever gets a chance to play in the TOC is that they’re freerolling! It isn’t often that players of this stature get to try and win money without putting down any of their own…

In the past, participants had to either be invited to participate in the [...]

High Stakes Poker Season 6 Episode 5 Recap

Watch the show here

The first hand of this episode was interesting. On the one hand you get a “disciplined” laydown by Daniel Negreanu, who folded QQ when an ace hit the flop. His laydown was disciplined because you can understand his reluctance to risk his last $50,000 versus 4 opponents, one of who, statistically, was likely to have paired the ace. On the other hand, a player as talented as Negreanu could’ve made a little more effort to try and read the opponents. As it happened, a good bet could’ve won him the pot, with Negreanu being the [...]

High Stakes Poker Season 6 Episode 4 Summary

Watch High Stakes Poker Season 6 Episode 4

No surprise to me that Phil Ivey is up over a quarter-million dollars at this table. He pulled off a huge bluff by betting pre- and post-flop with 2-7, no draw, and simply no chance to win the pot. Taking down a hand like this is what makes him the best player in the world. Sure it helped Ivey that nobody else hit any part of the flop, but just try to imagine yourself betting out 12k post flop with absolutely nothing…I’d be shaking! Ivey’s glare, on the other [...]

The Best Poker Hand Ever Played

I might be a little a head of Robbie and i don’t want to spoil the fun, but I just saw the latest High Stakes Poker, and i need to share you in on the episode’s best hand.

Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan go head to head in what i can only describe as the best played hand i have ever seen.

Take a look for your selves, and let me know if you agree.

Annie Duke Wins NBC Heads Up Poker Tournament

NBC Heads Up Poker Tournament Recap

As our pre-event column predicted, this year’s NBC Heads Up National Poker Championship sure was entertaining! While the event won’t be aired for a little while (mark your calendars for Sunday, April 18th people!), the final tournament bracket indicates that there were plenty of awesome matchups and some surprising winners over the course of the matches played.

The winner of the prestigious event was Annie Duke. It could be argued that the win “revives” her poker career. While she’s been a “name” player for a while already, the woman formerly [...]

Latest Episode Of High Stakes Poker

Weeee! I want to start out by saying that I LOVE Antonio Esfandiari! While not as big of a name as Hellmuth, Ivey, or Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari’s mere presence at a poker table makes the whole atmosphere loads more festive. Even if he’s not actively involved in a hand, a simple “weeee” by Antonio never fails to get a laugh out of me, and often other players at the table.

Anyhow, so the new player on High Stakes Poker in episode 3 was Jason Mercier – as they say: “Welcome to the big time!” Known more for his online success, this is my (and I’m [...]
